I would rock that shirtless while chugging a Monster and splitting lanes during rush hour. Because Bath Salts.

the 999 is apparently ugly, according to the ducati fanboys.
Who also think that any ducati with a wet clutch and/or liquid cooling should be burned.

Pierre Terblanche designed.... so yeah, kind of a polarizing design.... But underneath the cladding, a dope-ass motorcycle.

These are very cool. Much much better than a 749 :)

I always really liked it, especially the stacked headlights. It looked -different- which is something so few sportbikes seem to manage. The RC8 and new R1 are the others that come to mind.

I’m with you.. I think the 999 was one of Pierre’s best designs... and yeah the stacked headlights were the standout feature.... I’d rock the fuck out of one.

6/10 would still ride. So plasticky though. I thought fairings were going away, but shit man apparently not.
Always been a stripped-down cafe racer fan.

Know what I love? Getting increasingly rare now, but boxy-ended, race-minded ‘core bikes from the 80s. Like just a stark white and blue ‘85 GSXR or late 80s FZR with the circle headlights and revolutionary rear seat cowl. Not just fairings slapped onto muscle bikes, but actually intended for the track, with windshields designed to be used, stiffened suspensions, and the style that kinda bridged the early Ninja look to the modern cookie-cutter sport bike.
After a while, probably hastened by people stretching swingarms and riding these plush ZX-blah bikes and raving about the godawful ugly Hyabusa, sport bikes became caricatures. They weren’t so much the racing scene reaching out to the recreational rider, but now just an awful bro-scene of their own.
Present company excepted but of course.
